Fred attended New York University where he graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (cum laude). He also received the prestigious Founders Day Award for outstanding scholarship. Fred was licensed January of 1991.

In December of 1990 he started as a staff Physical Therapist at Saint Francis Hospital. There he treated patients with a diverse conditions. These included cardiac care patients, neurological, orthopedic, cervical, lumbar, hand, pulmonary, balance and vascular. He specialized in wound care using sterile techniques. He also instructed the staff on proper body mechanics to assist with patient care and prevent staff injuries. In May of 1994 he became a Senior Physical Therapist and assumed those responsibilities including oversight of staff, policies, procedures, administrative meetings, while still treating full time.

In December of 1996 he joined Nassau Sports Care as a staff Physical Therapist. In January of 2005, Fred became the Clinical Director of the New Hyde Park Facility. In October 2015, Fred and Katie Hicks, P.T.A., became the co-owners of Nassau Sports Care. They have dedicated themselves to create a community facility to treat individuals with a wide variety of diagnoses and the continued promotion of wellness.
